----------------------------------------------------------------------- BDP - "The Gate" General Instructions ----------------------------------------------------------------------- BDP strongly recommends that you copy your existing Duke3d directory to a seperate directory. That way you will be able to enjoy The Gate without the risk of files such as art, or user levels, midis, etc. causing problems or conflicts with our addon. If you are installing the single download file, The Gate will require approximately 45Mb of space plus the 16.5Mb that the single download file requires. If you are installing the split file version of The Gate, there are 16 files sized at approximately 1Mb each. These 16 files consume right around 16.5Mb of space. Downloading the split files also requires the use of our installer (install.zip). See the instructions for split file installation near the end of this document. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- BDP - "The Gate" Full File Install Instructions ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Installing the single file download of The Gate is as easy as extracting the contents of gate.zip into your Duke 3d Directory. The game can then be started by executing thegate which is a batch file which will be extracted into the directory. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- BDP - "The Gate" Split File Install Instructions ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Please Note: ------------ The individual zip files will not open/extract with PKUNZIP or WINZIP. The files are a split of the original zip, and therefore are invalid files until merged. Follow these instructions to install the split file version of The Gate. 1. Make sure you download each of the zip files. There are atleast 16. It is recommended that you download each of these files into a temporary directory such as c:\temp. 2. Download the file install.zip. It is recommended that you download each of these files into a temporary directory such as c:\temp (or the directory created in step one). 3. Extract the contents of install.zip into the c:\temp directory (or the directory in step one). 4. From DOS, Windows, or Windows95, start the MS DOS Command prompt, and change to the temporary directory where the files are stored with the CD command (the same directory created in step one). 5. Execute install.exe from the command line. Follow the instructions on the screen. You will be prompted to enter the path to your Duke Nukem 3D directory. Or, if you will be installing The Gate in it's own directory, enter the full path as shown below: C:\DUKE3D (then press the enter key) 6. If all goes well, you should be all set to run The Gate. Be sure to clean up the files from c:\temp (the directory created in step one), as it takes a good amount of space. All files in this directory can be safely deleted. That is it! Post any problems or feedback regarding this installation process into the forums at http://www.elitegames.com/bdp. Thank you for downloading The Gate from BDP, and we hope you enjoy playing it as much as we have building it!
