Frankennex 2.6 is the third computer that I built entirely out of K'nex!
I have a lot of spare computer parts and decided to build a computer for fun. Since I didn't have any spare cases and I always love building things out of K'nex, I decided to make the case entirely out of K'nex again.
My buddy Matt helped me do a bit of building when I first started off building the chassis. Total build time was probably about 2-3 days. I've also since added a DVD drive to it, but I don't have any up to date pictures.
I used a wide assortment of parts, and in theory this computer honestly shouldn't work - the processor has bent pins and isn't thermal pasted, the power supply is only 175 watts (had to use molex > SATA power adapters), the hard drive has bad sectors and the video card has artifacting when rendering transparency in 3D environments. The video card has since died, but it still worked in that state for a long time! The name is a homage to the Frankenbox series that my friend Nick had built. After all, a number of the parts came from the original Frankenbox 2.0 after it had been disassembled.
