April 3, 2015 - 5:03 PM - "40 TB of Glorious Storage Space"
So I finally got the opportunity to finish building my long-awaited data server and got it up and running today! I'm running an Adaptec 71605 RAID card with 12x Western Digital 4 TB Raid Edition hard drives for a grand total of 48 TB (with only 40 usable due to dual parity bits). Now I just need to wait a day or so for the array to finish building. You can check out some pictures at the bottom of this page if you're interested!

Also decided to give kubuntu a try as my operating system, after fixing some hardware issues that had popped up previously that were simply fixed by a bios update. Yeah, apparently updating the BIOS had somehow slipped my mind. Oh well, at least it's working now, thanks to a ton of help from my buddy John Holowczak!

September 16, 2014 - 7:29 PM - "Z Launcher"
After a slight hiatus from programming, I've been recently super hard at work at my Duke 3D Mod Manager which is nearing completion & some form of initial release, as well as my own game engine and a DOSBox integrated launcher for the Bitmap Brothers' classic 1995 MS-DOS strategy game, Z. You can check out the Z Launcher here!

May 27, 2014 - 10:43 PM - "Palette Editor 1.0 Released"
Alright! After 4 days of hard work, I've completed the palette editor for Duke Nukem 3D that I spoke about in my previous post. So, if you want to check that out or if you're looking for more information on that, click here!

Finally got around to uploading the new version of my website to my actual web server as well. Most of it broke because the PHP install on the server was at version 4.4.9, which is at least 6 years old, so thankfully I got that sorted out pretty quickly!

May 24, 2014 - 6:45 PM - "Dank Nukem 420 & Palette Editing"
A few days ago I came up with a pretty silly idea. One of my friends and I always joke about replacing things in games to make them more themed towards montage parodies. For example, adding Mountain Dew vending machines, replacing things with Doritos, and so on. So I figured what the hell, why not make a full on montage parody themed game? So I've gone full nostalgia and we're gonna make a prototype as a Duke Nukem 3D mod. Things are going pretty well so far, having a blast! The full title we decided on was "Dank Nukem 420 Blaze It: NoScope Edition", featuring such episodes as "Dankpocalypse Now!" and "Evil Dank: Toke of the Dead". There's a teaser screenshot below from the title screen, showing off some of some of the artwork we've done thus far.

Dank Nukem 420 Blaze It Duke Nukem 3D Palette Editor

However, in working on this project I discovered that there really aren't very many tools that are even remotely half decent at editing the DAT palette files associated with Duke 3D. So I set off on writing my own palette editor from scratch yesterday afternoon. As of late last night, I've got it working with basic functionality and full read / write support for 4 different palette formats: DAT (both PALETTE and LOOKUP) / PAL / ACT and any image files containing an image representation of a palette. I noticed the palette image files off the Duke 3D wiki are scaled 3x larger, so I added scaling support just in case anyone wanted to import / export images that were scaled up. Things are going quite well, and the program should be completed relatively soon. Little late to the party, I admit, and I doubt anyone else will ever use it.. but hey, if you do - all the more power to you! There's a screenshot of LOOKUP.DAT loaded into the palette editor above!

That's all for now!

May 21, 2014 - 7:41 PM - "Website 2.0!"
So I've been super hard at work on a brand new design for my website for the past few weeks now, and I'm really happy with the changes! All kinds of things have been changed including new CSS, transition to HTML5, brand new menu that doesn't require JavaScript, tons of new content, thumbnail versions of every image (with larger resolution versions hyperlinked) to reduce bandwidth usage and increase load times, page formatting changes, better organization, etc. Just go check it out and see for yourself!

New section added for mods that features a massive page that I've spent at least a week on dedicated to my massive collection of Duke Nukem 3D mods that I've collected over the years. I've been wanting to find some way of sharing a lot of these hard to find mods back to the community in a meaningful and informative way, so I've finally achieved that. The page has all kinds of options on the page to navigate through, filter, sort and search for any mod you wish! You can view the page in list form, or with all the information spit out at you at once. Lots of information available for each mod including the name of the mod, release date, the latest version of the mod (if applicable), compatible game versions, website, team and contact information, downloads, videos and sreenshots! I'll be revising the information a little bit in the near future and I will be adding more reviews and screenshots of the mods, as well as linking in other reviews from other websites. It is still very much a work in progress!

On that note, I'll also hopefully be able to finally push out a new version of my Duke Nukem 3D Mod Manager soon, once I tie in my huge new XML formatted mod data file to it that I've been working on for the previously mentioned page. I put that project on hold back in 2008 and hadn't continued work on it until recently. I do regret that it took me so long to get back to it, but better late than never, right?

Also added a page for my Minecraft 1.4.7 modpack, AwesomeCraft as well, along with some screenshots and descriptions of things I've made with it, and a copy of my ComputerCraft programs for anyone that might be interested!

And of course, last but not least, I've added this blog page, so I can post news, updates and thoughts on! I'm also planning to implement some form of commenting system for people to leave comments on different pages, but that's still a little ways off at this point. Anyways, thanks for dropping by! Hope you like the new design! If you run into any issues or have any feedback regarding the new design, please feel free to contact me!
